Learn How to Replace a Monitor Screen
Are you having issues with your monitor? Hurry to Creative IT! Many laptop users are frustrated by dim, cracked, black, fuzzy, or simply difficult-to-read screens. Because laptops are portable, dropable, and sometimes subjected to rough treatment, broken screens are a common issue. In such situations, the first thing that comes to your mind is monitor screen repair.
You start searching for "how I can fix my computer." A cracked screen can render a laptop inoperable. Fortunately, you can fix it, although it is recommended that you contact a reputed service provider for this work.
Let's dive into learning the process of replacing a broken monitor screen.
Remove The Screen Bezel
- Examine the bezel around the screen carefully after disconnecting the power supply and removing the battery. This bezel must be removed in order to gain access to the screws that hold the LCD panel in place.
- Remove all of the screws from beneath the rubber bumpers. Keep these in a plastic container. Depending on the model of the computer, you may also need to remove the hinge screw.
- Pull the plastic bezel away from the back housing gently. Be patient and persistent with this step. You may need to gently slide the credit card between the plastic front bezel and the back cover. Many manufacturers use a type of glue to hold these pieces together. If you pull too hard, the glue is strong enough to crack the bezel.
Remove The Screen
- Additional screws must be present to secure the screen to the inner frame. Remove these screws by loosening them. After you remove these screws, the screen should be free of its frame. A wire will be used to connect the screen. Unplug this wire and remove the screen from its frame.
- The part numbers are located on the back side of the screen. These will be numbers like LTN160A(T1) for HPs (01). To order a new screen from a vendor, you'll need to know the exact part number.
- It's important to note that you can only accept an exact match on these numbers; otherwise, you risk buying a screen with a connector that doesn't fit your computer.
Install a New Screen
- Order parts from a reputable service provider, such as IDSN. Ensure that the vendor sends you an exact match or compatible part for your computer.
- Use the cable connector to connect your new screen to your laptop. Plug in the computer and turn it on. The new screen should now appear. You can test the screen this way before reassembling everything. If the screen works, unplug the computer and make sure the battery is removed.
- Reverse the procedure and reassemble the computer.
These basic steps cover the replacement of most laptop computer screens or monitors. If you don't think you can handle this repair yourself, a qualified computer repair shop should be able to do it for you at a reasonable cost. If you are unable to locate a shop in your area, please contact IDSN.
